The GD Edge Soccer Camps

The GD Edge Soccer Camps in beautiful Buckhannon, West Virginia offer an opportunity for players to receive valuable instruction on the fundamental and advanced skills of soccer. Campers will be made aware of the characteristics that define successful soccer players. Organized games between campers will provide a competitive outlet after specific drills have been practiced. Contests built into drills capture the learner’s attention, which results in attentive practice.

General courtesy, respect for teammates and opponents and the importance of hard work will be taught to the campers through example by the GD Edge coaches.

The GD EDGE Advanced Training Program is designed for the player that aspires the next level. It is also designed to prepare high school players for college soccer. Advanced sessions include complex technical training and tactical/functional training in small and large groups, special classroom sessions on nutrition, academic and NCAA compliance requirements, weight-lifting sessions, and systems of play in classroom sessions. Train with the best to be the best.

 

 

Advanced Training Program Sessions are designed for 12-15 year-old Boys.

 

 

Advanced sessions include complex technical training and tactical/functional training in small and large groups, special classroom sessions on nutrition, academic and NCAA compliance requirements, weight-lifting sessions, and systems of play in classroom sessions. Train with the best to be the best.

 

The GD EDGE Residential Soccer Camp continues the dedication for quality instruction and personal player development. We offer a springboard for continued soccer growth in West Virginia and other areas throughout the United States. High school players will gain the necessary edge to make their fall, club and ODP teams while our younger campers will gain the skills and tactical awareness necessary for future development.

Commuter: $275.00 ..... Covers lunch, dinner and a camp t-shirt.
Commuter: Advanced Training $300.00
Residential: $375.00 ..... Covers lodging in a West Virginia Wesleyan College residence hall and all meals for the week, plus a camp t-shirt.

Personal Attention to Instruction For .....

Field Players: To enhance the development of the Complete Soccer Player The GD EDGE Soccer Camp combines training and individual skills with advanced team tactics. The camp is also designed to ensure that players learn how to enjoy the game of soccer. The morning sessions will concentrate on developing individual skills in techniques of finishing, passing dribbling and ball control. Individual creativity is encouraged among the campers in order to gain confidence and develop a more free flowing and positive attitude toward the game. The afternoon sessions will concentrate on tactical development beginning with small sided (1v1, 3v3) activities progressing to 6v6. Evening sessions will include video demonstration further individual instruction and matches. Our main goal is to create a greater passion and appreciation for the game of soccer for all our campers.

 

Goalkeepers: As the goalkeeper is often the forgotten player, the GD EDGE Soccer Camp has morning and afternoon sessions specifically for goalkeepers. The training includes the key aspects of technical, tactical, physical , and psychological development of this crucial position. The training is further enhanced by participation in and evaluation of performance in small and large group activities.

In addition to the Daily Schedule (above), the following time schedule will be used for those campers that select Advanced Training.

1:30pm - 2:00pm ... (Fri. thru Sun.) College Prep Academics, Nutrition, Agility/Flexibility

6:00pm - 6:30pm ... (Fri. thru Sun.) College Training

 

 

Camp Director
Over the past 32 years Coach Donaldson's teams have a record of 373-215-61. This record includes the 1994 National championship, 9 National Tournament appearances and 12 WV Conference titles. Donaldson's teams have consistently been ranked in the Top-25 National polls. Donaldson holds his NSCAA Premier (DP) Diploma. He received his Master's degree in kinesiology from Indiana University while serving as the assistant coach of one of the premier Division I programs in the country.

 

Facility:
The camp is held on the campus of WV Wesleyan College. Full-size grass and turf fields and indoor training facilities are available for the camp including access to all of the college's other facilities. West Virginia Wesleyan College offers one of the finest sports medicine facilities in order to assure each camper the best possible treatment when needed. St. Josephs Hospital is located 5 minutes from the camp facilities.

Check-in

All campers should report to the campus for registration on Thursday at 6 p.m. and move into rooms. All campers will be ready for training at 7pm. The staff will be available to help you with moving in. Camp will end on Sunday at 4 pm. Dinner will not be served on this day.
