Nick Marks just completed his second season as the Head Coach for the Whittier College Men’s Lacrosse team and he did so in impressive fashion breaking the school record for single season wins finishing 13-3, which included two winning streaks at six games and seven games. His team was also a perfect 8-0 at home with quality wins over Wittenberg, Gwynedd Mercy, and an upset win over Division II powerhouse No. 19 Colorado Mesa.
The Chicago native comes to Whittier College after serving as the defensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator for NCAA Division III North Central College in Illinois. In their inaugural season, the Cardinals finished 10-4 and wrapped up the year 2nd in scoring defense (6.0 goals per game), 3rd in caused turnovers per game (13.7) and 14th in clearing percentage (.873) within NCAA Division III. Marks led a defense that only gave up double digit goals in one contest and saw freshmen Sean Tomonari receive All-CCIW honors. The Cardinals finished their campaign with the best record amongst all inaugural teams in the NCAA.
Before North Central, Nicholas Marks was an assistant coach at Bucknell University from 2012-2016 where he served as defensive coordinator while also coaching face-offs and goalies. During his tenure, Marks would help the Bison to 47 victories in NCAA Division I and 22 victories in the Patriot League. There the team made five Patriot League Tournament appearances and earned two Top 20 National rankings. In that time, the Bison achieved wins over nationally ranked Cornell, Penn State, Drexel, Albany, Navy, and Brown. In four out of five seasons, Marks commanded a defense that finished in the top 20 nationally for scoring defense and caused turnovers. Eleven players earned All-Patriot League honors under Marks’ tutelage including eight defensemen, two goalkeepers, and a face-off specialist. These players also accrued 23 Patriot League Player of the Week honors in the same time. In five seasons, Marks coached two USILA All-Americans, five USILA Scholar All-Americans, three USILA North South All-Star game selections, and three MLL Draft selections. As a recruiter, Coach Marks has recruited multiple Inside Lacrosse Top 100 prospects and assisted in the class of 2018 which was ranked 14th nationally in Inside Lacrosse Recruiting Issue. In his time at Bucknell, Marks coached and played against four Tewaarton Finalists.
After an extensive search, Men’s Lacrosse Head Coach Nick Marks is happy to announce the hiring of Curt Foxx as Assistant Men’s Lacrosse Coach.
“Curt Foxx brings a wealth of experience to our program having served as a NCAA Head Coach.”, explained Marks. “He is a charismatic leader and tireless worker. Curt is a coach who can do more with less, which is an aspect we value highly in him. His expertise will be instrumental in our national and local recruiting efforts. He is a proven coach that brings character and experience to our program which our student-athletes are sure to benefit from.”
Curt Foxx will serve as the Whittier College Men’s Lacrosse program’s Offensive and Recruiting Coordinators. Coach Foxx brings a wealth of experience to Whittier having served as a Head Coach for NCAA Division III Hendrix College in Arkansas. Foxx arrives at Whittier after serving as an assistant coach at Chaminade College Prep for the 2017 season.
After an extensive search, Men’s Lacrosse Head Coach Nick Marks is happy to announce the hiring of Mike Ondrusek as Assistant Men’s Lacrosse Coach.
“We are very fortunate to have such a relentless and intelligent individual such as Mike Ondrusek on our staff”, explained Marks. “I coached Mike all four of his years at Bucknell where he was a team captain, and I have a lot of trust in him to run our defense. Mike is inheriting an experienced group that is very eager to learn from a bright mind like his. He is going to make a tremendously positive impact on our student-athletes. Mike is the son of a coach, that has forged him into an effective leader. I could not be more excited about his presence in our program as I believe this individual has a bright future ahead of him.”
Mike Ondrusek will serve as the Whittier College Men’s Lacrosse program’s Defensive Coordinator. Originally from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Ondrusek comes to Whittier with extensive coaching and playing experience. In addition to his years coaching at Blue Mountain Lacrosse out of Central Pennsylvania, Ondrusek also played defensive midfield for Coach Marks at Bucknell University from 2012-2015.
