Washington Track Camps is excited to begin a new training opportunity for the youth of Seattle. This winters training club is the first of its kind in the Northwest. Imagine getting together with world-class coaches and the best athletes in the city a couple days a week to prepare for the upcoming track season. That is exactly what we will be doing. Join Coach Jason Drake (JD) and staff twice a week to get ready for the spring season. Our coaches will write sound training to motivate and prepare you for the best track season possible. We will meet weekly for a long run on the trails in the Redmond area, and another day at Magnuson Park for our weekly workout.
JD has 23 years of experience as a collegiate coach and has worked with many athletes from Olympians to age group athletes. Let JD and his staff take the guesswork away, and get you ready for your best track season ever. We will have structured sound training, and will enjoy the process along the way.
Joining JD will be Coach Anita Campbell and Coach Jonathan Coopersmith. Anita was a multi time All-American at the University of Washington, and part of the 2008 NCAA Championship Cross Country team. Anita knows what it takes to achieve greatness. After graduation Anita spent several years coaching at the high school level in Seattle. She eventually moved on as an assistant at the University of Washington where she helped mentor many All-Americans, most recently 4 x All-American Amy-Eloise Neale this past Spring.
Coach Coopersmith spent the last two seasons assisting with the University of Washington distance runners as well. Coppersmith was a member of the cross country and track teams at Shippensburg University. Jonathan made the transition to coaching upon graduation and began as an assistance coach at Westminster College. He went on to coach at several high schools in Charlottesville, VA and eventually as an assistant at the University of Virginia with the distance squad.
The Washington Track Club Winter Training is open to any male and female athletes from 7th 12th grades and is designed as an official club. Our club is not intended to be a boot camp and we will tailor each training session to the ability of the athletes with the goal of preparing for the spring season. We encourage athletes of all abilities to attend, and will make sure each individual is challenged, but not over-trained. Our hope is that the athletes will get a nice jump on their spring track season, and stay motivated and excited through the winter.
General weekly training guidelines will be given to the athletes, and our 2 sessions will consist of a long run on the trails of Redmond, and a workout session at Magnuson Park. Workouts will be adjusted based on ability, and general training guidelines for the days we dont meet will be given out as well. Specific personal training plans can be arranged at additional cost.
On Wednesdays the club will be at Magnuson Park. Final location within the park is yet to be determined, but we will start indoors with short instructions for the session, then head outside within the Park for our workouts. Sunday the club will meet at the Redmond Water Shed or 60 Acres Park in Redmond for our long run. We will rotate between the two. Our schedule will be handed out at our first meeting.
The cost for club is $325.00 for the winter session. This includes a general training plan, and a USATF Membership. We will offer a group discount of $50 for athletes that attend with a team (five or more individuals from the same school). Please email Coach JD at firstname.lastname@example.org to get the group discount code.
