Jamie Dixon Basketball Camps

Jamie Dixon Basketball Camps, located at Texas Christian University, are dedicated to providing a basketball camp experience that is educational, instructional and fun!

Led by Texas Christian University Men’s Basketball coaches and players, campers will be introduced to the same mechanics and drills used with our collegiate athletes. Our coaches will share their passion for the sport of basketball in a supportive atmosphere with students of all ages and ability levels.

The second annual, TCU Mens Basketball Coaches Clinic will be held on Friday, May 3rd at the Ed & Rae Schollmaier Arena at the beautiful TCU Campus. This clinic will offer a comprehensive look at head coach Jamie Dixons prolific offensive set and notorious defensive secrets. Dont miss your chance to witness and hear from the Texas Christian University coaches, student-athletes, and guest speakers from around the nation. All high school, college, and AAU coaches are welcome to attend.

Description

This camp is an opportunity for fathers and sons/daughters to learn basketball at a very introductory level together. Attention will be focused on development of young basketball players as their fathers work alongside them.  

 

Camp includes fundamentals, games, contests and participation with coach Jamie Dixon, the TCU coaches and players. Father and child will both receive an official TCU Basketball NIKE camp t-shirt as well as three (3) Meals will be provided.

 

Overnight accommodations at TCU's campus residence halls and two meals on are included. Dorm rooms accommodate two people. Those who bring more than one child to camp will be required to use a separate dorm room.

What to bring

Campers must wear gym shoes, shorts and a T-shirt. In addition, we ask that campers do not bring personal articles, including basketballs, to camp to ensure that they are not stolen or misplaced. The camp will not be responsible for any lost or stolen articles.

 

What to bring

Basketball Shoes - All games will be held on clean indoor courts.
At least 2 pairs of basketball shorts
At least 4 pairs of athletic socks
At least 2 t-shirts
Toiletries and Shower Shoes
Bedding - Twin Extra Long Beds. - Sleeping Bags Work great
Linens will NOT be provided
Please do NOT wear jewelry and/or hats to camp!
Cell phones will be put away during camp time.
Water will be available throughout the facility, but players may want to bring a water bottle and/or a sports drink.  

 

Day 1: The first session of stations will give fathers/guardians the opportunity to learn from Coach Jamie Dixon and the entire TCU coaching staff while taking part in drills that can be utilized to help their child develop as a basketball player. Campers will interact one-on-one with the TCU basketball players while going through drills and competitions. Dinner is provided on Day 1  

 

Day 2: In the second sessions of stations, fathers/guardians and sons will participate together in stations and competitions that are facilitated by the TCU coaching staff and players. Fathers/guardians and Children will be teammates throughout all competitions. Breakfast and lunch are provided on Day 2.  

 

CAMP TRAINER: - We have a full-time, certified athletic trainer who will be on site throughout the entirety of camp. If you have any medical concerns regarding your child, please convey this to the trainer at check-in. Should you have any questions about this policy, please speak to our camp trainer at check-in. - Each Camper (Father & Child) will need all participating players to complete the medical release form prior to participation. No exceptions  

 

VISITATION: All family members are welcome to come and observe camp. Signage from the lobby will direct you to seating. If you do attend, you must park in Lot 6 or Lot 7 adjacent to Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena or Lot 7 or Admissions lot, adjacent to the TCU Rec Center.  

 

It is not permissible for boosters to provide expenses for individuals to attend any of the TCU Sports Camps. The amount of money that is deposited into the camp bank ranges for each camper. Typically, a parent deposits around $50 per camper for the week. Campers are placed on teams to promote balanced league play according to age and ability.

 The first day, campers are divided into age groups. From there they are placed onto random teams with about 7-10 campers. They will play with campers their own age. Each team has a coach. If a camper plays above the level of his age group, he will be moved up to an older group. Camp coaches will make this decision. Unfortunately, we cannot allow teammate requests  

 

CAMP TRAINER:  We have a full-time, certified athletic trainer who will be on site throughout the entirety of camp.
