Which session should your daughter attend?

By USAV age guidelines, players who are 12 and under use a lighter volleyball. The age ranges for the SEMO camps are designed based on years of coaching experience with younger players. Here is a guide to help you determine which session your daughter should attend:

Beginner (8-11 years old): Has played little to no volleyball. If she has played some, struggles to serve the ball overhand at least 50% of the time.

Intermediate (12-14): Has played some volleyball and understands the basics of the volleyball skills. Most of these campers are close to the junior high age.

Elite (15-18): This camp is geared towards those older athletes with extensive club volleyball experience. These athletes are serious about pursuing a collegiate volleyball career.

My daughter is going to be (some age) in a few weeks/months, can she attend the camp for the next age group

We separate the campers into generic age groups based on experience with skill and maturity levels. If you, as the parent, feel like she is mature or skilled enough to be in a higher age bracket, you know your daughter best and we will leave that decision up to you.

What time is check-in

My daughter wants to room with a friend, how do I reserve her a room with her friend

We want to be sure that your daughters and our campers are as comfortable as possible during their stay. We ask that campers who want to room together, simply arrive together at check-in. The Residence Life staff member checking them in will place them together as requested. We reside in suite style dorms so 2 campers to a room, 4 campers to a suite. If 4 campers want to be in a suite together, they simply need to arrive together and let our staff know.

How are the dorms supervised

All residence halls on SEMO’s campus are monitored by professional residence hall staff members throughout the summer. As well as monitored by paid college residence hall supervisors. Some camp coaches will also be in the dorms for extra supervision.

How will my daughter get from dorm to cafeteria and to the gym

In order to keep the cost of camp low we walk everywhere, but not to worry, we do not walk far. We always walk together with coaches doing head counts and ensuring we all stick together.

Will there be WiFi in the dorms for the girls to use

Unfortunately we do not provide WiFi to the campers.

How do you handle emergency situations and injuries

The Southeast Volleyball Staff is trained in CPR and First Aid “First Responder Training.” We also have an athletic trainer on-site during all court sessions. All serious accidents and injuries will be assessed and taken to Southeast Health.

How do you split the girls into teams/courts

We will assess their skill level and split into groups that best accommodate the campers. If multiple teammates come together to a camp, we will put you in the same group so you can train together as you prepare for your school season.

What will my daughter need to bring

  • We suggest your daughter brings:
    • Bedding/Pillow(s)
    • Towel for the shower
    • Toiletries
    • Gym Clothes (t-shirts, spandex, gym shorts, etc.) *please do not wear spaghetti-strap tank-tops, low cut, cut-off t-shirts, or other revealing clothing*

    • Spending cash for snacks/apparel at a camp concession stand
