Which session your daughter should attend?

By USAV age guidelines, players who are 12 and under use a lighter volleyball. The age ranges for the SEMO camps are designed based on years of coaching experience with younger players. Here is a guide to help you determine which session your daughter should attend:

Beginner (8-12 years old): Has played no volleyball or some volleyball. If she has played some, struggles to serve the ball overhand at least 50% of the time.

Intermediate (12-14): Has played no volleyball but is older. Has played some volleyball and can serve the ball over the net, overhand but is not accurate or consistent.

Experienced (15-18): Has played volleyball at high school and/or club level.

My daughter is going to be (some age) in a few weeks/months, can she attend the camp for the next age group

We separate the campers into generic age groups based on experience with skill and maturity levels. If you, as the parent, feel like she is mature or skilled enough to be in a higher age bracket, you know your daughter best and we will leave that decision up to you.

My daughter wants to room with a friend, how do I reserve her a room with her friend

We want to be sure that your daughters and our campers are as comfortable during their stay as possible. There is a place to reserve their roommate on the registration form and we ask that campers who want to room together, arrive together. We double check all rooming assignments before we place the campers in their rooms.

My daughter has a few friends who want to stay in the same room, is there a possibility for 3 to a room

Unfortunately we cannot guarantee that there are 3 campers to a room and due to safety concerns and keeping track of the campers in case of an emergency, we cannot allow them to move furniture or mattresses to accommodate all of the triple room assignment requests. The dorms are usually set up in suites, which means there will be 4 girls to each area, this is as close to a triple room accommodation as we can provide. Going to camp is about making new friends and they will have plenty of time to hang-out together before lights out.

How are the dorms supervised

All residence halls on Southeasts campus are monitored by professional residence hall staff members throughout the summer. As well as monitored by paid college residence hall supervisors. I also house the paid camp coaches in the dorms for extra supervision.

How will my daughter get from dorm to cafeteria and to the gym

In order to keep the cost of camp low we walk everywhere, but not to worry, we do not walk far. And in an effort to keep track of all of our campers, we make sure that we walk from location to location in a big group with lots of head-counts.

Will there be WiFi in the dorms for the girls to use

Unfortunately we do not provide WiFi to the campers.

How do you handle emergency situations and injuries

The Southeast Volleyball Staff is trained in CPR and First Aid “First Responder Training.” All serious accidents and injuries will be assessed and taken to Southeast Health.

How do you split the girls into teams/courts

Generally, its pretty random at the beginning, but as we go through camp, we try to integrate skill levels and position preference so that each camper gets the full experience and as much attention on their skills as possible.

What will my daughter need to bring

We suggest your daughter brings:
• Bedding/Pillow(s)
• Towel for the shower
• Toiletries
• Gym Clothes (t-shirts, spandex, gym shorts, etc.) *please do not wear spaghetti-strap tank-tops, low cut, cut-off t-shirts, or other revealing clothing*
• Gym Shoes (might want different shoes to walk to/from the gym)
• Kneepads
• Spending cash for snacks/apparel at a camp concession stand
• Alarm-clock (cell phone alarm works just fine)
• Cell-phone charger (if she has one)

We paid the deposit, when do we pay the full amount?

The deposit will be taken automatically from your card on the 1st of the month before your camp. So, if camp is in July, the balance will be taken on July 1.

What time is camp over?

Camp is over around 12 on the final day of camp. We generally host competitions on the final day and parents are more than welcome to come in a see how their campers have improved over the course of camp!
