Point Loma Nazarene University Campus

Phil Wolf

Head Coach

The 2016 season will mark the fifth for coach Phil Wolf as the leader of the Point Loma mens soccer program. He took over the program in January of 2012 as the eighth coach in the programs 39-year history.

Throughout his seasons as the leader of the Sea Lions, Coach Wolf has also made the effort to define the PLNU mens soccer program by these words/traditions: Respect, Honor, Family and Excellence.

These lessons are being seen on the field as the Sea Lions have seen continual improvement each season of his tenure. After going just 2-16 in 2012, coach Wolf brought in a class of 14 newcomers for the 2013 season and the Sea Lions responded by going 7-8-3 and placing seventh in the Pacific West Conference standings at 5-4-3. In 2014, the Sea Lions climbed to sixth in the PacWest standings with a 6-5-1 record, their first-ever winning record in PacWest play. The Sea Lions put together a seven-match undefeated streak, which included five straight victories, to match the second-longest winning streak in school history. The team also matched the school record with three straight shutouts. Four Sea Lions earned All-PacWest honors and Matt Steinhaus was voted to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team.
