The coaching staff at Nazareth College is dedicated to the development and growth of athletes of all ages and skill levels. Learn to Swim, Learn to Dive, and Competitive Lessons Program

Program Description

The Nazareth College Varsity Swimming and Diving program is proud to offer lessons to children in the area looking to sharpen their skills in the pool.


About the Program: This is an 8 session program that spans three weeks;

April .... 9th, 11th, 13th, 16th, 18th, 20th, 23rd, 25th (27th makeup date).

Program runs on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays


Competitive Lessons NEW: Already an accomplished swimmer? Get training tips from college athletes? Open to anyone Ages 5-14!


Choose one of the following time slots: 4:15pm, 5:00pm or 5:45pm

  • Lessons are 35 min for ages 8 and under, 45 min for ages 9 and over
  • Learn to dive will be 5:45-6:30pm
  • Each swim participant will be placed in a strict 1 instructor to 2 student class
  • All abilities are welcome, even if your child has NEVER swam before!
  • Please select what Learn-to-Swim level you think your child is at.  Click here to determine Red Cross Level.


Note: Knowing that potential conflicts may occur there is some flexibility to make up classes


About Learn-to-Swim

This program is designed for children who are in the process of learning and mastering basic swimming skills from Level 1 (basic water exploration) up through level 6 (skill proficiency).


Children will be placed in a 1:2 instructor to swimmer ratio and will be taught skills that correspond with the American Red Cross swimming levels program.


Children must be in kindergarten and at least FIVE years old.


About Learn to Dive

This program is designed for any child interested in learning skills to be a diver. Program would work from beginning levels (never been a diver before) up through advanced levels (looking to sharpen up skills as a competitive diver). This program will be taught by Nazareth College Varsity Intercollegiate Divers.

Lessons- Divers MUST come to the 5:45pm 6:30pm session to have proper space.


Cost: $120.00 for the entire program



Sibling discount is $40.00 off for the 2nd sibling.

If you choose to do multiple sessions (i.e. learn to swim and learn to dive), signing up for second session is $60.00


Mandatory Pre-Lessons Meeting: All parents need to attend a pre-registration meeting either on Wed 3/27 at 6:30pm or Sun 4/8 at 5:00pm. 


What to Bring: Swim suit, goggle and a towel


Benefit: This program serves as a fundraiser for the Mens and Womens Varsity swimming and diving program.


Location: All sessions are at the Nazareth College pool in the Shults Center on campus. Parents are welcome to watch all sessions!


About the Instructors



Scott is completing his 2nd season as the head coach of Nazareth College. This program was created at his previous position at New Paltz and he directed 10 such Learn to Swim clinics that taught over 600 children swim lessons.


Instructors: Nazareth College Swim & Dive

The members of the Nazareth College Golden Flyers swimming and diving team will instruct the children on a daily basis during the camp. Our team has seven WSI instructors, and each our of college students will be trained on basic instruction of each level prior to the course.



Park anywhere on campus, as long as its an actual spot. Please do not park in drop off spots that require hazard lights or in spots designed for campus / security vehicles. Lots A or Lot H is recommended. Please do not park in front of the York WRI building.


Pick up and Drop Off

All parents must bring children to the pool and oversee them until the class begins. Children will not be allowed to leave the pool deck after lessons without a parent.


Please check your email regularly as this is our primary way we communicate. Any additional information that we need to convey as the clinic draws closer will be passed on to you via the e-mail address that you supplied when you signed up for clinic. Please make it a habit to check your e-mail daily, this will eliminate any confusion and or miscommunication.
