Camp Description

The Wildcat Girls Basketball Camp will cover a wide variety of fundamental skills daily. Footwork, Ball Handling, Shooting and Passing, along with proper Defensive Technique.

Each day there are contests to see who is the best in the Camp on two levels, the younger group, and the older group. The contests are: Free Throw Shooting, 3 Pt Shooting, Hot Shot, Ball Handling and Knockout competitions.

All campers will be placed on equally divided teams at both levels, play games everyday and compete for the Camp Team Championship. This is a great opportunity to play with some of the girls you always compete against, and now you get to play with them as a team member.

Coach Starrett and his staff of current high school and college players are dedicated to providing a fun and competitive environment at camp.

Head Coach: Marin Catholic High School - John Starrett:
John Starrett completed his first season as the Varsity Women's Basketball Head Coach at Marin Catholic. John led his 2016-2017 team to a 20 win season, the MCAL semi-finals, the NCS semi-finals, and the second round of the CIF State Basketball Championship Tournament.

John is a Cal graduate with post graduate degrees in social science and law. In his four years rowing for Cal, he was honored as team captain, most valuable, most inspirational, won a Pac 10 championship and medaled at the U.S. Olympic Festival. Having played many high school sports, John chose to coach basketball, his hands-down favorite. He has coached girls and boys at the varsity, JV, freshman, and CYO levels for nearly 15 years.

John views sports as a tremendous complement to academics and an ideal training ground for life. Because basketball is so incredibly fun and engaging, and a team sport, the gym is an ideal classroom for everyone to practice humility, confidence, empowerment, strong communication skills, industriousness, focus, high energy, team spirit, competitive spirit, balance, gratefulness, and so many other useful foundational qualities and habits.
