Summer softball camp is sure to be a good time for girls interested in softball.

 

Head Coach - Marin Catholic High School

Girls will be taught fielding, hitting, throwing and running techniques by the Marin Catholic coaches, current players and alumni.

 

This three day camp will include a variety of drills that will be enjoyed by all age groups and skill levels. So whether you're just starting out or an experienced player preparing for High School, it doesn't matter, get into the Wildcat spirit and sign up to play some softball.

 

Meet The Coach:
Dave Albini returns for his fifth year as Marin Catholic's Varsity Softball Coach after leading his 2016 team to back-to-back Division 4 North Coast Section Champions. Dave was also named the Prep2Prep North Coast Section Coach of the Year in 2015. Dave has been coaching club softball for over 10 years. Before joining Marin Catholic he was an assistant at San Marin High School from 2009 to 2012, where he coached is daughter Dani, the 2012 MCAL MVP. Dave is a very energetic, high spirited coach that puts a lot of stock in team unity and school spirit. He emphasizes the importance of high school athletics and how it can build character both on and off the field. Dave takes pride in not only teaching softball but also responsibility, dedication and leadership, helping prepare students for what lies ahead in college.

Guided by Marin Catholic's Mens Varsity Coach, Mike Saia, the staff is comprised of current coaches, players, and Marin Catholic Alumni. The camp will introduce fundamentals, offensive and defensive concepts, and have games daily. The 4-day camp offers a great balance of instruction, competition, hard work, and fun!

 

Meet The Coach:
Mike Saia is in his seventh season as the Varsity Men's Basketball Head Coach at Marin Catholic, winning more than 100 games in his first 5 seasons. In 2017, Coach Saia led his Wildcats to a regular season and playoff MCAL championship for the first time since 2005. Mike is a graduate of Drake High School (2-time 1st Team All-League). He played one year at College of Marin, and three years at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Coach Saia has developed a basketball philosophy from years of playing, coaching, and officiating. Mike was a NCAA Division I basketball official from 1991-1999, finishing his career with two trips to the NCAA tournament. Utilizing the 'whole child' approach to coaching, Mike provides life lessons through the sport of basketball and shares his enthusiasm for the game.

Description

The Wildcat Girls Basketball Camp will cover a wide variety of fundamental skills daily. Footwork, Ball Handling, Shooting and Passing, along with proper Defensive Technique. Each day there are contests to see who is the best in the Camp on two levels, the younger group, and the older group. The contests are: Free Throw Shooting, 3 Pt Shooting, Hot Shot, Ball Handling and Knockout competitions. All campers will be placed on equally divided teams at both levels, play games everyday and compete for the Camp Team Championship. This is a great opportunity to play with some of the girls you always compete against, and now you get to play with them as a team member. Coach DeMartini and his staff of current high school and college players are dedicated to providing a fun and competitive environment at camp

 

Head Coach: Marin Catholic High School - John Starrett:
John Starrett completed his first season as the Varsity Women's Basketball Head Coach at Marin Catholic. John led his 2016-2017 team to a 20 win season, the MCAL semi-finals, the NCS semi-finals, and the second round of the CIF State Basketball Championship Tournament.

John is a Cal graduate with post graduate degrees in social science and law. In his four years rowing for Cal, he was honored as team captain, most valuable, most inspirational, won a Pac 10 championship and medaled at the U.S. Olympic Festival. Having played many high school sports, John chose to coach basketball, his hands-down favorite. He has coached girls and boys at the varsity, JV, freshman, and CYO levels for nearly 15 years.

John views sports as a tremendous complement to academics and an ideal training ground for life. Because basketball is so incredibly fun and engaging, and a team sport, the gym is an ideal classroom for everyone to practice humility, confidence, empowerment, strong communication skills, industriousness, focus, high energy, team spirit, competitive spirit, balance, gratefulness, and so many other useful foundational qualities and habits.

Wildcat Camp is teaming up with Tenacity10, Northern California's premier girls' lacrosse program for our 2017 camp. Tenacity10's coaches believe that sports are a fantastic way for girls of all ages to learn skills for navigating life's challenges. Through structured training sessions and consistent mentoring, girls can develop methods for achieving their own ambitions both on and off the field. Tenacity10's programs constantly remind girls of the following ideals in order for them to reach their full potential:

Meet The Coach: Lauren Schmidt is a former CAL and Fresno State assistant coach and Stanfurd All-American. She was a two-time Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Player of the Year while with the Cardinal.

 

As a collegiate coach, the former Cardinal midfielder was actively involved in the organization of the attacking and midfield units, in scouting and in recruiting. A product of Bay Shore, N.Y., she graduated from Stanford in 2011 with a bachelor's degree in human biology.

 

Schmidt started all four of her seasons (2007, 2009, 2010 and 2011) and participating in two NCAA Tournament (2009 and 2010) runs on the Farm. She claimed IWLCA third-team All-America honors in 2010 and 2011 and the MPSF Player of the Year awards in 2009 and 2010, when she also led the Cardinal in points. Schmidt participated in the U.S. National Team program from 2009-11, competing in U.S. Lacrosse tournament and training sessions.

 

Lauren earned the prestigious Aimee Willard Award as the top collegiate player at the 76-year-old U.S. Lacrosse Women's Division National Tournament in Bel Air, Md.

In his first five seasons the Wildcats have compiled a record of 133-48 along with 3 straight NCS championships. In 2016 Marin Catholic clinched their first regular season and playoff MCAL championship for the first time since 2000. Jake started his coaching career at Petaluma High School, winning the regular season and NCS title for the first time in school history. In 2010 and 2011, Jake joined Redwood High School, again winning a regular season title and NCS championship.

Description 

Without using pads or helmets, the Wildcat Football Camp teaches sound fundamental offensive and defensive football skills to both experienced and beginner youth athletes. Individual and group drills will be demonstrated to teach basic techniques. Proper warm-up, physical conditioning, skills drills and review are part of each scheduled session. Coach Moayed, assisted by his staff and select former players will be your coaches. The focus is on fun, skills and safety during this four day camp and the football padding is included.

 

Meet The Coach:
Mazi Moayed is the Head Football Coach at Marin Catholic. He has led the Wildcats to six undefeated MCAL Championships, two North Coast Section Championships and a trip to the State Championship Bowl Game in 2012. Coach Moayed was named Northern California Division III Coach of the Year by NorCal Preps in 2012. Prior to joining Marin Catholic, he coached at Novato High School, Berkeley High School, San Rafael High School, and College of Marin. As a player, he started as safety for the Semi-Pro North Bay Rattlers, who were undefeated for the 4 years he played. Coach Moayed is known throughout our area as a leader in teaching his players the fundamentals of the game while instilling in them what it takes to compete on and off the field.

Description

The Wildcat Baseball Camp will cover a wide variety of skills designed to make each camper a more well rounded baseball player. The morning hours of camp are spent covering fundamentals such as how to properly warm up, proper throwing mechanics, as well as both offensive and defensive skills. After lunch, campers will be broken into teams and the scrimmages will begin. Campers will then have the opportunity to showcase the skills they have learned during the morning session. Coach Foppert and his staff of current high school and college players are dedicated to providing a fun and competitive environment at camp. This is a very popular camp and will be capped at 72 participants so sign up early!

 

Meet The Coach
Drafted as a pitcher by the San Francisco Giants (from the University of San Francisco) in the 2nd round of the 2001 draft, Jesse made his MLB debut on April 14, 2003. Rated by Baseball America as the best pitching prospect in 2003, Foppert broke into the Giant's starting rotation in 2003 and was traded in 2005 to the Mariners along with Yorvit Torrealba for Randy Winn. Jesse returns as Head Coach for the Marin Catholic Varsity Baseball team for his fifth season where he has led the Wildcats to two MCAL Championships and four NCS Division II appearances. For Foppert, a two time all-MCAL baseball player, a USF infielder and Major League Baseball pitcher, helping kids succeed on and off the field is what it's all about. Teaching lessons through baseball, like hard work, dedication, teamwork and attitude, coach Foppert knows first-hand how these fundamentals will serve them for life.

Andrew Shuter grew up in England where he played for Northampton Town as a youth. Moving to the States at the age of 11, he then played for Novato Youth Soccer until he was 18. Andrew played at College of Marin for a season before deciding to become a coach. He has coached for North Marin United, Novato High School, and is the Head Coach at Marin Catholic High School for the Boy's Varsity team. He had his USSF E and his NSCAA National Diploma.

Jesse returns as Head Coach for the Marin Catholic Varsity Baseball team for his fifth season where he has led the Wildcats to two MCAL Championships and four NCS Division II appearances. For Foppert, a two time all-MCAL baseball player, a USF infielder and Major League Baseball pitcher, helping kids succeed on and off the field is what it's all about. Teaching lessons through baseball, like hard work, dedication, teamwork and attitude, coach Foppert knows first-hand how these fundamentals will serve them for life.

Description

The Wildcat Baseball Camp will cover a wide variety of skills designed to make each camper a more well rounded baseball player. The morning hours of camp are spent covering fundamentals such as how to properly warm up, proper throwing mechanics, as well as both offensive and defensive skills. After lunch, campers will be broken into teams and the scrimmages will begin. Campers will then have the opportunity to showcase the skills they have learned during the morning session. Coach Foppert and his staff of current high school and college players are dedicated to providing a fun and competitive environment at camp. This is a very popular camp and will be capped at 72 participants so sign up early!

 

Meet The Coach
Drafted as a pitcher by the San Francisco Giants (from the University of San Francisco) in the 2nd round of the 2001 draft, Jesse made his MLB debut on April 14, 2003. Rated by Baseball America as the best pitching prospect in 2003, Foppert broke into the Giant's starting rotation in 2003 and was traded in 2005 to the Mariners along with Yorvit Torrealba for Randy Winn.
