Former University of South Florida standout Marcela Oliveria enters her first year as an assistant coach on the JU staff.
Oliveria comes to JU after coaching at the Top Select Volleyball Academy in Orlando.
While at Top Select Volleyball Academy, Oliveria coached the 12- and 18-year old squads. She was the head junior varsity coach and an assistant on the varsity team at Santa Fe Catholic High School before joining Top Select.
Her other club circuit coaching spots have included time with the Tampa Bay One Volleyball Club and The ampa Bay Juniors Volleyball Club. She has also served as a teacher at four different schools in Tampa.
Former University of South Florida standout Michelle Collier was named as the eighth head coach of the Dolphins volleyball program in January 2012. She will also head up JUs sand volleyball program.
Collier comes to JU after spending the 2010 and 2011 seasons as an assistant coach at South Carolina.
In 2011, Collier helped the Gamecocks to a seven-win improvement which ranked as second-best jump in school history. The Gamecocks improved in nearly every category, including posting a hitting percentage 45 points better than in 2010. She also helped Paige Wheeler finish third in digs (4.57) in the Southeastern Conference, while Juliette Thévenin was fourth in kills pet set at 3.65.
