BMore Elite Distance Camp

Welcome to BMore Elite Distance Camp. We are committed to providing a camp that is both instructional and informational along with creating a great atmosphere to learn! The Coaching Staff at BMore Elite is dedicated to the development and growth of distance runners of all ages and skill levels. We are committed to providing a positive and instrumental learning experience for our camp.

Van Allen earns 8th National Coach of the Year Honor

Head coach Bobby Van Allen was named the USTFCCCA Division III Women’s Cross Country Coach of the Year, it was announced Tuesday. Van Allen guided the Blue Jays to their eight NCAA National Championships title in ten sessions to earn Coach of the Year honors for the sixth time in his career.

Description

The Bmore Elite Distance Camp is a unique camp that combines a fun and energetic experience with a serious approach to becoming an elite distance runner. 

 

Rather than simply playing games and running, the camp will teach the many facets of what it takes to maximize one’s potential for those looking to compete as distance runners at the collegiate level. The camp will consist of numerous activities, a tubing trip down the Gunpowder River, and a wide variety of training sessions at various parks and nearby Baltimore .

 

Other sessions will include but are not limited to core training sessions, physiology classes on distance training principles, proper aqua jogging instruction, plyo circuits, and weight training for distance runners.

This Session is limited to the first 75 participants!

Cost

Overnight camp – $675 – includes all activities beginning at 9:00 am on Monday, with double occupancy lodging for both Monday and Tuesday night.  It will include all meals beginning with lunch on Monday and concluding with lunch on Wednesday prior to check out.  This includes lodging, meals, travel to any parks, tubing expenses, use of facilities, T-shirt, and all instructional material.

 

Sunday early check-in – $125.  Includes double occupancy lodging on Sunday, dinner Sunday night, and breakfast Monday morning.  Check-in is available beginning at 5 pm on Sunday, July 14, 2024.

Tentative Schedule 

Monday, July 15, 2024

9:00am – 10:00am – Arrival at Johns Hopkins University, Check into dorm at AMR Building B across from athletic center

10:00am Sharp – Gather in front of AMR with counselors and walk together from AMR to the Athletic Center.  Please bring water bottle, and athletic gear to work out in.

10:15 – 10:30 – Introduction of instructors, campers, camp counselors, and overview of camp at Newton White Athletic Center’s Auxiliary Gymnasium.  Final registration and issuing of T-shirts, folders, and materials

10:30 – 1200 – Introduction to dynamic warm-ups, stretches and distance run through Hackerman way and Stoney Run Trail

12:15pm – 1:15pm – Lunch at Johns Hopkins FFC Dining Hall

1:30pm – 2:45pm – Classroom session – Physiology of Energy Systems in Distance Running presented by Head Coach Bobby Van Allen (Men’s Team Meeting Room – Athletic Center)

3:00pm – 4:15pm – Weight Room Introduction and workout #1

4:15pm – 4:45pm Dynamic Core routine Introduction – baseball field or Aux Gym

5:00pm – 5:45pm – Sports Psychology and the Mental game with Sports Psychologist Shannon Mulcahy

6:00pm – 7:00pm – Dinner at Fresh Food’s Café (FFC)

7:00pm – 9:00pm – Night Activity with camp counselors at the Practice Field at the Athletic Center

9:00pm – 11:00pm – Return as a group to Dorm and on own in dorm rooms.

7:00am to 8:00am – Breakfast at Fresh Food’s Café (FFC)

8:15 – 9:00am – Optional Mornings runs on San Martin Loop

9:15am – 10:15am – Classroom session in Team Meeting Room– “The College recruiting process”

10:15am – 12:00pm – Departure to Druid Hill Park Taylor’s Grove for workout

12:00pm – 1:00pm – Lunch at FFC Café

1:15pm – 2:15pm – Tour of Campus by counselors

1:30pm – 2:30pm – Classroom session – Nutrition and proper fueling of distance runner with Coaches Knestout and Horst

2:30pm – 3:30pm – Aqua Jogging instruction and session at Johns Hopkins Varsity Pool

3:45pm – 4:30pm – Games on Babb Field at Johns Hopkins

4:30pm – 5:30pm –  Q & A Panel with former College/Professional runners (Berdan, Knestout, and more)

6:00pm – 7:00pm – Dinner at FFC Dining all at Johns Hopkins

7:00pm – 9:00pm – Night Activities with camp counselors.  Movie and Trivia Night at Gilman 50.   Will be heading there and back as a group.

9:00pm -11:00pm – On own in dorms only

Wednesday, June 17, 2024

7:00am to 8:00am – Breakfast in FFC Dining Hall at Johns Hopkins University

9:15am – 10:15am – Yoga for runners in Newton White Athletic Center

10:30am – 11:15am – Classroom Video Session and snacks – Race tactics and video analysis

11:30am – Head to NCR Trail for Distance Run and tubing

Noon – 1:30pm – Afternoon practice run session at NCR Trail

1:30pm – 2:00pm – Lunch at NCR Trail – Box Lunches delivered

2:30pm – 4:30pm Tubing down Gunpowder River. 

5pm – Return to JHU for pickup from camp between 5pm and 5:30 pm for parent pickup and departure from campus.  645

 

The training runs will vary in location from a trip to the NCR Trail in Gunpowder Park, Patapsco State Park, Druid Hill Park & Lake Montebello and Gilman Trail.
