Why is tennis considered the “sport of a lifetime”
Tennis has always been referred to as the “sport of a lifetime” for the single fact that it is a game that you can play actively for your whole life. Developing tennis skills as a youth enables a player to have the foundation for a lifetime of interest and improvement. Whether a camper wants to play on a high school team, play tournaments, compete at their local club, or just learn the game with other campers, we have an instructional program that will enable you to get better, have fun, and enjoy tennis forever
My child has never played Tennis. Can he/she attend camp
Absolutely! You should consider registering your child for any of the weeks that we offer. We have coaches trained to introduce children to the game of tennis and teach them the rules of the game and the fundamentals of tennis technique and play. Because we also offer swimming, your child will have a full camp experience while playing the fabulous game of tennis.
My child is an advanced Tennis player. Can he/she attend camp
Absolutely! You should consider registering your child for any of the weeks that we offer. Our coaches can help improve the technical and tactical play of advanced players, ranked players and those seeking to improve their rankings. Campers will be exposed to college coaches and upon request, a camper can receive an evaluation by a senior coach at the end of a weeks session.
How are the campers grouped during training sessions
On the court, campers will be separated in part by age and by skill level. If a player seems unchallenged in his/her own age group, he/she may be moved to an older or more advanced group. We will honor all requests to have children who want to be together with family members or friends as long as the players have similar skill levels.
Who will be coaching
Your children will learn the game of tennis from a roster of champion coaches. Our staff includes current NCAA Division I Head Coaches, current and former NCAA Division I players, and current women CSUN tennis player., Our coaching professionals make learning enjoyable and emphasize “teaching through playing”.
Where is the camp location
Centrally located in the heart of the San Fernando Valley, Northridge Tennis and Swim Camp will utilize the impeccably maintained Tennis Courts of the Cal State Northridge We will utilize the NCAA Division I Tennis courts located on the corner of Zelzah & Plummer. Parking for the camp will be in Lot G4 on Zelzah Ave. between Prairie Street and Plummer Street.
What type of supervision do you provide
The safety of your children is our #1 priority. The Tennis courts are fully enclosed with 10-foot high fences. There is one way in and one way out of both of the facilities. In other words, your children will be safe, secure and carefully supervised. The children will have the chance to swim each day under the careful supervision of our trained lifeguards. The pools are conveniently located near the tennis facilities and near the air-conditioned cafeteria where we will eat our lunches. All activities at lunch, the Ice Cream Parlor and the arcade will be carefully supervised. Coaches will have cell phones to contact parents if a camper is too tired to continue their camp day or in the case of any injury.
What should my child bring to camp
Each child should come to camp with the following:
Can I drop my child off early before camp begins or pick him/her up an hour after camp ends
We do not offer extended care before or after camp and we request you pick up promptly at the end of each camp day.
Will my child need extra spending money? If so, how much should I send
We will be eating our meals in the CSUN Student Union where there is an Ice Cream Parlor and a video game arcade. The children will have closely supervised access to theses facilities after lunch and you can choose to send them with spending money if you choose. We suggest $5 at most.
What if I have to cancel
If a campers reservation is cancelled for any reason, a $150 administrative fee will be withheld from the deposit and the balance returned. If the camper fails to appear for the scheduled camp date or if the reservation is canceled within 7 days of the beginning of the session date, no refunds or tuition credit on the deposit will be issued.
