What is a typical day of camp?

Campers wake up and eat breakfast from 8:00-9:00am. They are then bused or walk to their gyms for morning instruction (fundamentals). They come back to the cafeteria for lunch and then depart again for their gyms. Campers will then go through clinics and game until dinner in the cafeteria. After dinner campers will once again be bused or walk to their gyms for evening games and instruction. At 9:00pm campers will have the opportunity to buy concessions and watch the Baylor players in open gym until 10:00pm. At 10:00pm campers are bused back to the dorm for the night.

What is the schedule for a commuter camper?

Commuter campers can be dropped off at the dorm before 9:00am and have the opportunity to eat breakfast in the cafeteria with the other campers. Arrangements can be made to drop the commuter camper off at the gym after 9:00am. Commuters can be picked up from Ferrell Center between 9:00pm and 10:00pm each night.

What can I use my Camp Bank for during camp?

The camp bank allows campers to deposit money during registration and withdraw money throughout the camp for concessions, pizza, and apparel. Concessions and apparel purchases are available each night from 9:00-10:00pm. Pizza can be ordered daily and is delivered to the dorm each night at 10:00pm. Any money that is not used will be refunded to the camper after camp has concluded. The Camp Bank is optional, however the camp is not responsible for lost or stolen cash.

What is the average amount of money that parents put in the camp bank?

The amount of money that is deposited into the camp bank ranges for each camper. Typically a parent deposits around $50 per camper for the week. Whatever is not spent will be refunded on the last day of camp. The prices for concessions and pizza range from $1 to $15. Apparel ranges from $10 to $50.

Are there any 3-person rooms available in the dorms

There are a limited number of 3-person rooms available for this summer. We always do our best to honor every roommate request that is possible, so please remember to fill out a request when you register your camper for overnight camp. If changes need to be made to a registration, please go to the CONTACT BU page and submit your request(s).

How are campers divided into teams?

The first day, campers are divided into age groups. From there they are placed onto random teams with about 7-10 campers. They will play with campers their own age. Each team has a coach. If a camper plays above the level of his age group, he will be moved up to an older group. Camp coaches will make this decision. Unfortunately, we cannot allow teammate requests.

What should the camper bring?

Each camper should bring a blanket, pillow, twin size sheets or sleeping bag for dorm bed, toiletries, and towels. Also each camper should bring a four-day supply of gym shorts, t-shirts, socks, underwear and basketball shoes. Linens will NOT be provided and please do NOT wear jewelry and/or hats to camp! Cell phones will be put away during camp time. Do NOT wear opposing teams shirts or shorts!

What about medications for campers?

Our licensed athletics trainer can help with dispensing prescription and OTC medications. To dispense prescription medications, the medication must be given to the camp trainer at check-in with dosage directions, dosage amounts and times, and parent contact information. Campers may choose to keep their medications with them if they are age appropriate and responsible enough to self-administer.

What if a camper gets homesick while at overnight camp?

It is completely normal for someone to feel this way especially if its their first time away at camp. Counselors can help in this situation, and we encourage the campers, and parents, to make it thru to the end of the week. It is highly recommended that your child have experience being away from home prior to attending camp.

Will I leave camp with a camp basketball?

Yes! Along with a camp basketball every camper will receive a camp t-shirt, a team picture, and an individual report card. There are options for individual pictures with Coach Drew and other Baylor apparel available for sale before, during and after camp.

Will the Baylor players and coaches be around during camp?

Yes! The current Baylor players are extremely visible throughout the week of camp. They serve as coaches, referees and instructors during the week as well as scrimmage each night from 9:00-10:00pm in front of the campers. Baylor coaches, including Scott Drew, are always working camp and visible for the campers. Players and coaches will be available for autographs and pictures on the last day of camp after the awards ceremony in the Ferrell Center.
