Sarah Chapman has served as the Averett University womens soccer head coach since June 2015.
Chapman, who enjoyed a stellar playing career at the University of Florida, is the eighth coach of the Averett womens soccer program since it began play in 1993. She took over a program with a recent history of success, including a USA South Conference championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2012, along with two USA South Player of the Year selections and one Capital One Academic All-American in the four seasons leading up to her joining the Averett family.
In Chapmans first season with the Cougars, she coached a youthful roster that was without any seniors. Averett finished with three runs and one draw in the always competitive USA South. Chapman produced one USA South All-Conference First Team selection and one Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) All-State selection.
Ashlyn Hardie joined the Averett University womens soccer staff as an assistant coach and goalkeepers coach in July 2015.
Hardie came to Averett from Wingate University, where she gained useful experience as a coach, working with Wingate International Soccer Academy for four years in addition to assisting with the Charlotte Soccer Academy Goalkeeping Clinic.
Prior to joining Averetts coaching staff, Hardie gained valuable knowledge as a goalkeeper for the Wingate womens soccer program, where she led the squad to three South Atlantic Conference Tournament championships along with a Southeastern Regional championship in 2014 while serving as the teams captain.
Tahnai Annis joined the Averett University womens soccer staff as an assistant coach during the spring of 2016.
Annis joined Averetts program following a successful collegiate and professional career. A native of Zanesville, Ohio, Annis played at Division I University of Florida from 2008-2011. Annis played in 96 games for the Gators, scoring 38 goals with 16 assists. In 2010, she was an All-American and member of the Southeastern Conferences All-Second Team. In 2008, she also earned a spot on the SEC All-Freshman Team and SoccerBuzz.com Freshman All-America squad. Off the field, she was named a 2010 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Scholar All-America First Team, earned multiple Academic All-District honors and was a four-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
Annis continued her playing career professionally with Thor/KA in Icelands Premier Division from 2012-14. Annis started 62 games and scored 19 goals while earning the teams 2013 MVP award and helping her team win the 2012 Icelandic championship.
