Karen Hoppa

Head Coach

Since becoming Auburn's head coach in 1999, Karen Hoppa has guided the program to seven SEC Western Division Championships and 13 NCAA Tournament berths over the past 16 seasons, including a current string of 14-straight appearances in the SEC Tournament and an NCAA Tournament appearance in eight of the last nine seasons. Her coaching since arriving on The Plains has turned Auburn into a force every season.

A head coach since 1993, she became the 51st women's soccer coach to reach 200 career wins and just the 10th female head coach to reach that milestone when Auburn claimed a 2-1 overtime win over Alabama in the final regular season match of 2010.

As illustrious as her 247 career wins are, one of her biggest coaching achievements came towards the end of the 2011 season when she guided Auburn to the SEC Tournament title and the league's automatic NCAA berth, the first ever won by an SEC Western Division team since the start of the league tournament in 1993.

James Armstrong

Associate Head Coach

James Armstrong joined the Auburn program as an assistant coach on March 13, 2013. Armstrong comes from the Lonestar Soccer Club in Austin, Texas.

Armstrong works primarily with Auburn's midfielders and forwards. Since his arrival, Auburn has seen quite the influx of offensive output. In 2014, the Tigers scored 36 goals from 12 different players. Nine of those players had multi-goal seasons with departing senior Tori Ball leading the way with five goals. The 36 goals was tied for the sixth-best total in the conference .

Combined in 2013 and 2014, Auburn has scored 63 times, joined with 213 points. The 36 goals and 118 points were the most for Auburn since the 2011 season.

Ben Madsen

Assistant Coach

Ben Madsen was named assistant coach on Feb. 29, 2012. Madsen joined Auburn from Iowa State where he was an assistant coach for four years and served as the Cyclones' head assistant since 2009.

In 2014, Madsen guided Alyse Scott, who started in the net for all 22 matches of Auburn's season, tallying 76 saves and only allowing 22 goals for a 0.96 goals against average. That GAA was the fourth-best average in the conference. Scott also garnered 10 shutouts in 2014, tying for the most in the SEC last season.

Working with defenders and goalkeepers, Madsen helped the Tigers post the most saves in the Southeastern Conference in 2013 with 135 and register the third-best saves percentage at 82.4.

Sammy Towne

Director of Operations

Sammy Towne, who was a standout defensive player for Karen Hoppa's Auburn soccer teams from 2007-10, has returned to the program as the Director of Soccer Operations.

"I'm beyond thrilled to be returning to Auburn after formerly being a player and part of the team for five years," Towne said. "The program's immense success in recent years has been one that I've followed with the utmost respect. I hope to use the experience and skills I obtained under head coach Michael Coll while at UNC Greensboro to further propel the program's momentum of competing for a national championship."

Towne, from Royal Palm Beach, Fla., spent the last four seasons as an assistant coach at UNC Greensboro, where she worked primarily with the defenders and helped coordinate recruiting, travel and the budget.
