Ralph Clark

Head Coach


Ralph Clark joined the Alvernia University Athletics Staff as the Head Football Coach on January 11, 2017.  He was hired as the first head coach in the program’s history.


Clark joined the Golden Wolves’ staff after a year as the Defensive Coordinator and Recruiting Coordinator at Seton Hill University.


Clark was a four-year letter winner and a member of the first graduating football class at Robert Morris College.  He finished his career with 1,362 yards and 12 touchdowns.  Following his senior season he was named an Unsung Hero All-American by The College Football Chronicle and was invited for a free-agent tryout with the Pittsburgh Steelers.






Mike Wood

Offensive Coordinator/Offensive Line


Mike Wood joined the Alvernia University Athletics Staff as Offensive Coordinator for the football team in March of 2017. Wood was the first assistant coach hired for the football program.


Wood joins the Alvernia staff after two years of coaching at Millersville University. At Millersville, Wood was the wide receivers coach and the academic and travel coordinator during the 2014 season before being named the Offensive Coordinator in 2015.


Prior to Millersville, Wood spent two season at American International College as Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks and Running Backs Coach. AIC posted a 9-3 record in 2013 and won the Northeast 10 Championship.






Dan Beard

Special Teams Coordinator/Director of Strength & Conditioning


Dan Beard comes to Alvernia University from Shippensburg University, where he spent two years as the Defensive Backs Graduate Assistant. Beard was also the instructor for the Kickoff Coverage Unit.


In 2015, Shippensburg’s defense led NCAA DII with a +20 turnover margin – a feat that included 20 interceptions. All four starting members of Shippensburg secondary finished the season with multiple interceptions, and the Shippensburg defense tied a school record with three interceptions returned for touchdowns. Prior to his time with Shippensburg, Beard was the linebackers coach, assistant strength coach, and community service coordinator for two seasons at McDaniel College.


Beard also coached two season with Allegheny College. At Allegheny, Beard coached the outside linebackers and coordinated the team’s strength and conditioning program.





Dennis Iezzi

Defensive Backs


Dennis Iezzi joins the Alvernia University Football staff after spending two seasons with Albright College as a Defensive Line Coach in 2015 and a Corners Coach in 2016.


During Iezzi’s time with Albright, the Lions won the MAC Championship in 2015 and went to the second round of the National Playoffs. Iezzi coached three all-conference players with the Lions. Prior to coaching at Albright, Iezzi was the Assistant Head Football Coach/Defensive Coordinator with Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology from 2013 until 2015, and was the Defensive Coordinator and Secondary/Defensive Backs Coach from 2007 until 2013 at Kutztown University.


Iezzi also has extensive experience at the high school level. From 2002-2007, Iezzi was the Head Varsity Football Coach at Exeter Township High School.
